Last summer’s transfer season saw the Premier League spend a record amount of $1.076 billion, according to auditing firm Deloitte.

However, the above numbers may be broken this season when the British giants are aggressively reforming their squad.

`The spending level of teams in this summer transfer window is unprecedentedly high,` said consultant Alex Thorpe of Deloitte.

The summer transfer window in England has been going on for nearly two months and will close on September 1. Teams have made 7 deals worth over 20 million pounds ($34 million).

Transfers involving players from outside the UK accounted for 60% of the money spent.

One of the reasons why the Premier League is so aggressive is the record television copyright contract with BT and BSkyB from 2013 to 2016 worth more than $5.156 billion.

In terms of expertise, big teams Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea are all aggressively reforming their squads.

One notable piece of information is that the 2014 World Cup does not seem to affect the Premier League’s shopping plans.
