For Ailin, a student of Political Science at the University of Buenos Aires, `maternal instinct` is no longer valid and she does not consider motherhood as a mandatory goal in life.
Ailin Cubelo Naval, just 22 years old, had her fallopian tubes tied.
Since high school she realized she didn’t want to be a mother and this decision solidified over time for many reasons.
For the past 5 years, she and her boyfriend have used birth control pills and condoms, but there was a time when she thought to herself, `I never want to have children anyway, it’s time to choose a long-term contraceptive method.`
In April 2019, at the age of 21, Ailin went to see a gynecologist about her desire to have her fallopian tubes tied.
Faced with Ailin’s drastic decision to sterilize, this person said she had psychological problems and advised her to see a psychologist.
Ailin then joined a Facebook group `Tubal Ligation – Argentina`, where at least 1,200 women shared their experiences.
Ailin said it’s time to stop judging those who don’t want to have children.
