Hypothesized cause of Covid-19 outbreak in Ha Tinh 4

Currently, samples of Covid-19 cases in Ha Tinh have been sent to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for virus gene sequencing to determine the infectious strain, awaiting results.

Working with a delegation from the Ministry of Health on the afternoon of June 11, the leader of the Ha Tinh Department of Health hypothesized `it is possible that the virus strain that is causing the epidemic is a variant from India`.

A representative of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology also commented that through epidemiological investigation of two people returning from Binh Duong, it is suspected that the husband was infected with nCoV first, then infected his wife, who in turn infected many other people.

Only at the public freshwater bathhouse in Xuan Hai beach, `the place where the virus spreads the most`, there have been 7 cases of infection so far.

The army sprayed disinfectant in Doai Thinh village, Thach Trung commune, where a business couple returning from Binh Duong stayed.

In addition, the Ha Tinh Department of Health believes that there is a possibility that there is a second source of infection in the area, because the epidemiological factors of some patients are unclear.

Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau, asked the Ministry of Health to comment on expanding service testing points for people throughout the province.

`There have been 3 people in the area tested positive for nCoV, so it is necessary to expand testing to detect many cases of incorrect declaration,` Mr. Chau said.

Mr. Dang Quang Tan, Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health, said that Ha Tinh is facing difficulties in human resources and needs to assign lower-level medical forces to urgently trace the right people.

`Patients 8425, 8427` are a Binh Duong businessman couple, 56 and 52 years old, F1 of `patient 8113`, recorded by the Ministry of Health on the afternoon of June 5.

Two people were determined to have come into contact with a patient from Hanoi to Binh Duong on May 29.

On June 4, after learning that the person they had been in contact with had Covid-19, they contacted the Ha Tinh Disease Control Center to take test samples along with 6 family members.

From May 5 until now, Ha Tinh has recorded 29 community Covid-19 cases, including many cases related to a couple returning from Binh Duong.

CDC Ha Tinh recommends that all people who have been to these locations stay where they are, contact local medical facilities or the Center’s hotline at 0961 202 026 for advice and prevention instructions.
